Go1 (previously AduroLMS) is a Learning Management System in the cloud, it also does a bit of student management. Here at CourseSales.com we focus on Student Management, and then prefer to link to an LMS, eg Moodle, Blackboard etc. We are told by our customers they feel as though CourseSales.com has a much easier to use user interface, and the automated workflow management system blows them away, while an alternative to Go1 CourseSales.com seems to them to be worlds apart. Even small companies can benefit from Enterprise level workflow management. While Go1 can be a bit cheaper with very small numbers of students once numbers get large the costs pile up and the lack of automation means it even takes more time to manage students. Within Go1 it is possible to export data, however the data can only be exported in batches of 100, we have scripts that can automate this so don’t worry! In fact our experience says that migration is quite painless and most data can reliably be transferred into CourseSales.com.
Why do customers move from Go1 to CourseSales.com?
Easy to use
things are where you expect them, menus are simple, easy to navigate and easy on the eye.
Sensible display
Display of items does not drift into the ether by having pages with too much on them.
Clear and concise
Some of the naming convention can be confusing and they don’t necessarily link together - we see many organizations that are crippled by the confusion associated with this. CourseSales.com has Course Masters, Course Dates, Topics and Modules - and they all link together, in a hierarchy, easy as pie.
Automation
Most licenses for WiseNet have no automation. No action ‘triggers’ for automated and customised workflow, so you have to remember when things are different for different courses. In CourseSales.com you can build it into the configuration. You also have to do things they way they have you do them.
Save money
For larger companies the license fees are quite huge so larger training organisations will see a significant decrease in operational costs by switching to CourseSales.com, smaller organisations (<50 students) may pay a little bit more but they end up with a more robust student management system.
Preparing your data
Standard naming
Keeping names constant between items, using keywords to group items you can be sure that your items will be recognizable once they are imported into CourseSales.com
Cleaning up data
By cleaning up your data prior to the migration you will ensure that the data imported will be as clean as possible
Active only
The import scripts will only import the active items, not inactive ones. If you don’t wish to import some data then make it inactive. If you wish to import inactive data make it active!
Remove stuff you don’t need
If you have students you don’t need any more or courses that were canceled but have not been marked as this then remove them - the cleaner and leaner it is the better!
Form Builder in {{
Go1 is more of an LMS than a student management system, so it does not have advance features to collect data, namely they make measured assumptions about what information you are gathering given the parameters expected to be used. {{
Specific recommendations
Go1 does not have exports that can be used for import other than NAT files. The NAT 120 files export an additional field (a duplicate of ‘Fee exemption/concession type identifier’ at the last (24th position in the file) that can be discarded, and is not required for AVETMISS reporting.
To keep basic information or archive purposes you may wish to export:
-
Course Enrollment
-
Module Enrollment
-
Users (split these out by role, ie trainer, student, admin)
-
Resource
-
Activity Uploads
